Use a Smart Phone or Smart Card/e-ID to encrypt your hard drive or USB Stick

Data stored in an unprotected state on hard drives or portable drives such as USB Sticks invites unacceptable risks—and the costs of data loss go beyond endangering critical IP or competitive data. With the advent of tough new privacy laws worldwide, “lost” customer or employee data can subject organizations to crippling remediation costs or embarrassing public disclosures.

It is useless to use various Endpoint/USB Security Products if the employee might lose the complete notebook or finds a way to use a USB Stick.
Strong encryption provides the only secure way to protect your organization’s critical information from falling into the wrong hands. It also provides a “safe harbour” from disclosure requirements in the event a drive containing valuable data is lost or stolen.

The only strong encryption can be achieved with the usage of Smart Cards and other asymmetric security tokens which keep the secret keys locked.

A couple of weeks ago Aloaha Software introduced Aloaha Crypt as a freeware Add On to existing Aloaha Smart Card Connector and Aloaha Smart Logon customer. Aloaha Crypt encrypts transparently in real-time its virtual disks whereby its parallelization and pipelining technology allow data to be read and written as fast as if the drive was not encrypted. The encryption keys (AES-256, Serpent or Twofish) are securely protected by an Aloaha supported Smart Card.

Currently Aloaha supports approx. 45 different Smart Cards and e-ID Cards such as the German health professional cards (HBA/eGK), popular Signature Cards but also various e-ID cards such as the Belgium Belpic or Austrian e-ID. There are many other cards to mention such as SECCOS based banking cards or many CardOS based company cards.

For customer without any access to smart cards we offer our own Aloaha Crypto Card. User of Windows Mobile based phones can use their mobile as a smart card replacement!

Due to the huge success of the freeware Add On we integrated the Secure Drive functionality now in our Aloaha Smartcard Connector and Aloaha Smart Login products.

Based on the Aloaha Smartcard Connector and the Aloaha Secure Drive Aloaha also offers a portable encrypted Office based on a USB Stick with Smart Card Reader and the Aloaha Crypto Card.
