On this page we will publish tweaks and hidden features of the Aloaha PDF Suite.
PDF/A
Aloaha is able to generate PDF/A compliant PDF documents. To enable this feature please set HKLM\Software\Aloaha\pdf\PDFType and HKCU\Software\Aloaha\pdf\PDFType to value PDFA. Please note that this feature is currently beta and has not been released yet.
Cache certificates on disk
Accessing smartcards usually takes longer than reading data from disk. When a native supported smart card it is possible to save the certificates to disk (excl. private key) so that the perfomance of batch signatures will be significant faster.
To cache the certificates on disk you need the certificates in .cer format. Save the certificate (and if required even the root certificate) somewhere on your local harddrive. Now you need to create one registry key per certificate. The value of the registry key will be the path to the .cer file.
Signature Certificate
Create a key HKLM\Software\Aloaha\csp\certificatepath which contains the path to the .cer file of your signature certificate.
Root Certificate
In case you would like the Root Certificate embedded in the signature as well please create a Root Certificate Cache as well. A key HKLM\Software\Aloaha\csp\CA_path needs to be created which should point to the Root Certificate in .cer format.
Caching of Certificates to disk with multiple Readers
In case you use multiple Smartcards together with multiple Cardreader it is also possible to save the Certificates based on the Reader Number or Reader Name.
To be able to cache the certificate on disk based on the CardReader Number just add the number to the registry keys explained above. For example for cardreader 3 use:
In some cases it is more comfortable to save the certificates based on the readername. In that case create the keys certificatepath and CA_path under HKLM\SOFTWARE\Aloaha\CardReader\<ReaderName>
For example:
HKLM\SOFTWARE\Aloaha\CardReader\SCM Microsystems Inc. SPRx32 USB Smart Card Reader\certificatepath.
Signature PIN Caching
Aloaha is capable of reading the signature PIN from the registry. This is useful for batch/mass signature. Please ask our support department for the exact registry key.
Extend the page to be scanned for embedded commands.
Per default Aloaha scans only the first page for embedded comands. This can be extended to more pages with the key HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Aloaha\pdf\extrapages.
This key defines the number of additional pages to be scanned for commands. A value of 1 would instruct Aloaha to scan the first 2 pages of a document for commands.
Hide Aloaha Popups
To hide the blue Aloaha popups please create the following key with the value 1
HKLM\Software\Aloaha\DisableBanner
Please note that this also hides the CSP Tray Icon!
