Aloaha PDF Fax Connector FAQ

I am using the FAX Connector but sometimes the Adobe Reader opens with an error message.

Aloaha FAX Connector uses the default PDF Reader to print the generated FAX to the XP/2003 FAX Service. In case you generated print protected PDF and your default PDF Reader is of Adobe that will fail. Please reconfigure your Aloaha PDF Suite to generate PDF Documents with printing allowed or use the Aloaha PDF Editor as your default Reader.

^^

Does the FAX Connector have any special requirements?

The Aloaha FAX Connector works only on Windows XP and Windows 2003 with the Windows FAX Service installed and configured.
Windows 2000 support is currently under development.
^^

Can I use Aloaha to share my XP Fax Service?

Yes, all you need to do is to share the Aloaha monitored printer. Per default that is the Wrocklage PDF Printer.

^^

I configured the FAX Connector correct but still do not manage to send a fax

Usually that is caused either by a missing Adobe Reader or the Adobe Reader is not registered as the default handler of the PDF Documents.
^^

How do I run the FAX Connector as a service?

Please remove the Aloaha shortcut from the startup folder, open the Service Control Manager and start the PDF Suite Service. This should be done only from the computer console. In case you need to connect remotely to your machine via Terminal Services/Remote Desktop Connection please start the connection with:

%SystemRoot%\system32\mstsc.exe /console

^^

If I need to pause, I noticed I can't use commas. Is there a way to program a pause?

Yes, just use dots instead of the commas
^^

Can I send to two or more numbers (fax list) without repeating the print jobs?

Sure,
just insert multiple FAX Lines into the document.
For example:
FAX: 0815
FAX: 79047538

^^

Can prefixes or suffixes be added before or after the fax number (ie 9 or *70)?

Yes
^^

How can I stop Aloaha of initiating an email report?

The report type can be configured in HKLM\Software\Aloaha\Fax. The report type 1 in AllowedReceipts stands for email report. 0 stands for no report and 4 for popup report.
^^

How can I convert .fax or .tif files to PDF Documents without using the printer driver?

Just drop these files into the img2pdf folder. Aloaha will convert these files into PDF documents without using the printer driver. Multipage tif or fax documents are supported.
^^

Is it possible to receive a FAX with Aloaha?

To receive a FAX it is suggested to use the Aloaha FAX Suite.
