CodeB shortlisted at the Global Carrier Awards 2021
For the second year running, Aloaha’s work was shortlisted at the Global Carrier Awards. In 2021, CodeB Core Services, including the CodeB Self-Sovereign Identity System, made the shortlist for Best Blockchain / Security Innovation.
The 2021 awards: back in London
After the online-only ceremony of 2020, the 17th Global Carrier Awards returned to a live event. The ceremony took place in London on 20 October 2021 at the InterContinental London – The O2, during the Capacity Europe conference, where the wholesale telecoms industry meets every autumn.
Organised by Capacity Media since 2005, the awards recognise achievement and innovation across international wholesale telecoms. Entries in each category are read, assessed and compared by a judging panel, which sets the shortlist and picks the winners.
The category: Best Blockchain / Security Innovation
This category recognises new uses of blockchain and new approaches to security in the carrier world. The Global Carrier Awards are entered mostly by established international carriers and the technology companies that work with them, so a shortlisting means the judges ranked an entry among the strongest of the year in that field.
The shortlisted entry: CodeB Core Services
CodeB Core Services are blockchain-based services that let systems manage identity the federated way or the self-sovereign way. The CodeB Self-Sovereign Identity System is part of them: people and organisations hold and present their own identity, rather than depending on one central account provider.
It continued the line of the 2020 entry, which was shortlisted at the Global Carrier Awards 2020 for blockchain-based identity and anti-fraud.
Where that work continues
Many of the same ideas, such as people holding and sharing their own verified credentials, now shape the EU Digital Identity Wallet. CodeB today builds on them:
- EU Digital Identity Wallet verifier — people present cryptographically verified credentials from their own wallet.
- OpenID Connect and passkeys identity provider for sign-in on your own infrastructure.
- Session border controller with built-in toll-fraud protection that helps stop fraudulent calls before they reach your trunks.
